The Dragon is celebrating its 77th Anniversary this year and, by virtue of their age and hull design, has been invited to race in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, April 27 – May 3, 2008. And, as luck would have it, there are ten new Dragons at the Harmony Hall Yacht Club that are race ready. They have brand new sail inventories and race prepared bottoms The group will get their own start and sail with full spinnaker gear just like the Spirit of Tradition class. As the boats are all identical, they will be sailing as a one design class and so whoever comes first across the line wins.
The organizers of Antigua Sailing Week are also encouraging the Dragons to participate by enticing the group with a designated Dragon class. With an assigned rating, they will be sailing the B Division with full spinnaker gear, but and will also be sailing for line honours among themselves.
The Dragons are being offered for charter for each event with free dockage at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina. For those interested in enjoying the fun of one design racing at a couple of the the premier racing events in the Caribbean, check out www.harmonyhallantigua.com
