Hill’s 76’ Reichel/Pugh-designed Titan XII finished top-three in four races and dropped a fourth from her score line to finish on 11 points, just two points out of second- and third-place overall, which tied on point scores and had to be determined by tie-breaker rules. More usually witnessed dominating the racing stage in the Caribbean and eastern seaboard of the USA, this was Titan’s first venture into European waters, and what a stage she had to make her debut. Up against Titan were George David's 90-foot Rambler (USA), which recently finished second in the 608-mile Rolex Fastnet Race, and Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup winner Hasso Plattner's 87-foot supermaxi Morning Glory (GER). Hill was certainly pleased with the decision to race in Sardinia: "A couple of the crew have been here before, like St. Thomas’ Ben Beer, and they just rave about this place. They were right, and the racing couldn't have been nicer - the temperature and the wind. I like these around-the-island races once in a while, instead of just windward/leeward, windward/leeward... It was pretty impressive." For more information about the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2007 including entry lists and results please visit www.yccsmaxi.com.
