Scotiabank Caribbean International Optimist Regatta Opens

Light winds and sunny skies set the scene for the first day of racing at the 14th annual Scotiabank Caribbean International Optimist Regatta, sailed out of the St. Thomas Yacht Club. Fifty-eight 8- to 15-year-old junior sailors from all three U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Barbados, Curacao and the U.S. mainland took to the start line in three age divided fleets, Red (13- to 15-years), Blue (11- and 12-years), and White (age 10 and younger), and a Green Beginner Fleet. After six races, Ian Liberty from New Jersey led the fleet overall and in Red. Puerto Rico's Ivan Aponte topped the Blue fleet, while St. Thomas' Ian Barrows led White and Puerto Rico's Raul Andres Rios topped Green.Please click here for results for the Opti Green class and complete
