The start of the C2B 2003 race.
Charleston and Bermuda are gearing up for the biannual Charleston to Bermuda Race (C2B). The event is sailed every other year and is sponsored by the South Carolina Maritime Heritage Foundation. The 777 nautical mile challenge of navigational skill and true bluewater sailing departs Charleston Harbor, Saturday, May 14, 2005 setting sail for the island of Bermuda. Katy Durant, event organizer explains, “We are a relatively new blue water race, attempting to appeal to a broad scope of vessels. We intend to become America‚s inclusive race to Bermuda and focus on fun!”

The Charleston to Bermuda Race Committee will be offering individual fleets for classes entering five boats or more, to include fleet trophies. In addition to the racing, organizers promise wonderful parties at both ends of the course and that “friends are sure to have a great time while meeting other sailing enthusiasts”.

Supporters of the C2B race are also supporting the Spirit of South Carolina, a tall ship being constructed as an educational platform for youth. For more information check out the event website.
