The annual St. Lucia Regatta is set for 15th-18th January 2004. The St. Lucia Regatta is traditionally the first island regatta of the year, opening the race year with real ‘Lucian spirit’. Drawing participation from many of the ARC boats, the regatta takes on an international flavour.

The regatta is a five race series. Participants are given free dock space at the Rodney Bay Marina, with the evening entertainment within stumbling distance away. With all the boats docked together, the regatta has a community feel, with everybody helping each other tie up, and neighbors helping each other to lighten ship stores by sharing food and drink, Naturally, last year, the boat sponsored by Bounty Rum was a popular choice on which to make a stopover.

Registration will take place on the afternoon/evening of Thursday January15th, and the three days of racing will kick off on Friday 16th with the first two races, another two on the Saturday, and the final race on morning of Sunday 18th. Sunday afternoon everyone is invited to the Yacht Club for “funday Sunday” on the beach before prize giving.

Last year, everybody left the last regatta with a bottle of Bounty, whilst the overall winner, Caribbean regatta stalwart Peter ‘Wipers’ Hoad from Barbados sailed off on Green Flash with, amongst other prizes, a ticket to New York courtesy of Air Jamaica.
