The junior/master pairings for the 2003 Dry Creek Vineyard Pro Am Regatta at the Bitter End Yacht Club have been set. This year, rather than random pairings, regatta organizers have chosen to re-pair the winners (junior/master) from each of the past three years:

2000 Peter Holmberg/Rod Johnstone
2001 Ed Baird/Tom Leweck
2002 Andy Burdick/Butch Ulmer

The other two pairings were random: Russell Coutts/Keith Musto Dawn Riley/Lowell North

As in years past, masters will race in the mornings (aboard Freedom 30s), juniors will race in the afternoons (aboard Hunter 216s). There will be individual divisional winners, and the overall team winners. Pro Am racing takes place on November 4, 6 and 7.

"We expect to see a good fleet for the Suunto Defiance Day Regatta, November 3rd, with a Suunto M9 GPS watch on the line for the winning skipper. Rumor has it a big contingent is coming over from St. Thomas. Interest in the Musto Scuttlebutt Sailing Club Championships (run concurrently with the Pro Am) continues to run high. Individual classes (Laser, Hobie Wave, and Hunter 216) are beginning to fill up in advance of the November 2 preliminaries," said John Glynn of the Bitter End Yacht Club.

The finals (top placers from the preliminaries) are on November 6th.

Pro Am Regatta Week sponsors include: Dry Creek Vineyard, Mount Gay Rum/RoadTown Wholesale, Musto Performance gear, Suunto Sports Watches, Kaenon Sunglasses, Dubarry Shoes, Ultimate Sailing Calendars, Sail Magazine, Doyle Sails, and Team One Newport.
