Light winds made sailing tricky for many of the yachts competing in the Puerto Rico Heineken International Regatta, but that didn't mean racers weren't lightening quick when it came to getting back to shore in the afternoon for a front row seat at the annual fashion show.

"Light and long," is how St. Croix's Karen McCoy, crew aboard, El Presidente, described the single race of the day in the Jib & Main Class. Even so, the Thomas 35 is in second place in the eight-boat class behind Puerto Rico's Nemesis, a Hunter Legend 43, sailed by Edwin Cruz.

Third in Jib & Main is St. Croix's, Stan Joines, aboard his Alberg 35, Windflower. "We sailed all the way over to Vieques in the race today. We could see the beach." Joines is sailing with many of his high school music students as crew.

In Spinnaker Racing A, Bad Girl, also struggled in the light air. "We'd like to see upwards of 10 to 12 knots, but we learned a lot in the light air," said Mike Petievich, crew aboard the St. Croix based J/100. "There's not much light air sailing in St. Croix this time of year."

St. Thomas' John Foster continued to dominate Spinnaker Racing B aboard his Kirby 25, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. However, fellow St. Thomian, Paul Davis, aboard his J/27, Mag 7, did notch up two wins over five races today. "Our team has sailed together for five years, and we've chased John for five years, so today was great," says Davis.

In the IC24 Class, Puerto Rico's Gregory Fink, finished fourth aboard his Team Discovery Bay. "We've sailed J/24 the last two years and now we're looking forward to competing in the IC24 class," says Fink.

Meanwhile in Puerto Rico International Dinghy Regatta, Puerto Rico's Eric Torres leads the Laser class, with Ramon Gonzalez first in Laser Radials ad Rogelio Fernandez first in Laser 4.7.

Winds under 12 knots kept the kiteboarding class beached.
