Anguilla Dinghy Regatta Expanded for 2009
The 2009 Anguilla Dinghy Regatta, hosted by the Anguilla Youth Sailing Club and the Anguilla Sailing Association, will be held January 31, and February 1 2009, in Road Bay Anguilla. The regatta is expanding for 2009 to include Optimists, Lasers, Radials, C420, Sunfish, and Hobie Cats. Registration fees are $40.00 US for single handed boats, and $70.00 US for double handed. For those that want to race but don't have their own boat on island, there are a limited number of boats available for charter on a first come first serve basis. Additionally, the Anguilla Youth Sailing club will assist sailors in finding affordable accommodations and on-island transport. Racing will take place in the approaches to Road Bay and with some of the best wind in the Caribbean, the race area promises to be an exciting and challenging venue. For more information, or registration please contact William Ferguson at (264) 584-7245, or aysc@sailanguilla.com

Sixth Annual Anguilla Regatta Expected to Be a Good One
The Sixth Annual Anguilla Regatta will be held on May 9, 10 and 11th, 2008 and is expected to be the biggest and best event to date. After the great success of last years racing, which saw great wind and weather as well as fierce competition, the organizers are looking for more participants promoting the event as a unique event with the mix of local, traditional racing boats and the visiting yachts. Boat racing is the national sport of Anguilla and sailing is in the blood of all Anguillians. The regatta is centered in the beautiful sheltered harbour of Road Bay and is host to several parties at the many bars and restaurants on the beach. This regatta also boasts what some have called, “The best captain’s bags in the Caribbean.”

Anguilla Regatta Plans New Courses, More events
“Last year, the competitors told us they wanted more challenging and exciting courses, and we listened," said Steve Donahue of the planning committee.

There will be three different courses this year – an upwind/downwind course for the racers, a separate course for the cruising classes, and a “Beach Jam” course for all classes.  “The “Beach Jam” course will be the most exciting for both competitors and spectators”, he continued.

Anguilla Regatta 2006
In 2003, an idea was formed to have an International Yacht Regatta in Anguilla. A group of individual volunteers undertook all the planning and, in three short months, the Anguilla Regatta was created, and introduced the “Go…Mix Up!” theme. The “Mix Up” theme is very unique and is the cornerstone of the Anguilla Regatta. It allows sailors from yachts to invite local Anguillian boat crews on their boats for one race, and brings sailors from the yachts to sail on the local boats, an opportunity many would normally never have. Also this first year, the “Battle of the Banks” race was introduced, pitting two of Anguilla’s local banks against each other on the 12 Meter Challenge boats from St. Maarten, the actual boats used in America’s Cup racing.
