8th Annual Anguilla Regatta Twenty boats, including visiting yachts from Antigua, St Barth, Dutch and French St. Martin, and Anguilla B class local boats raced in the 8th Annual Anguilla Regatta for trophies, prizes of Laurent-Perrier champagne, and more importantly, glory. Although there was the threat of rain both Friday and Saturday mornings, by the time the racing started, the clouds dispersed making weather and wind conditions near perfect for racing.

Traditional Workboats Added to Anguilla Regatta The upcoming Anguilla Regatta, to be held May 7 - 9th, is adding a new race class, the West Indian Workboats. Laurie Gumbs, one of the organizers of the Regatta and owner of Tradition, a wooden Carriacou sloop, is challenging all West Indian workboats in attendance at the upcoming West Indies Regatta in St. Barth, April 30 – May 2, to a pursuit race back to Anguilla. Gumbs who is racing Tradition in both events thinks it's a great way to invite and encourage other workboats to attend the Anguilla Regatta.

Sixth Annual Anguilla Regatta Expected to Be a Good One The Sixth Annual Anguilla Regatta will be held on May 9, 10 and 11th, 2008 and is expected to be the biggest and best event to date. After the great success of last years racing, which saw great wind and weather as well as fierce competition, the organizers are looking for more participants promoting the event as a unique event with the mix of local, traditional racing boats and the visiting yachts. Boat racing is the national sport of Anguilla and sailing is in the blood of all Anguillians. The regatta is centered in the beautiful sheltered harbour of Road Bay and is host to several parties at the many bars and restaurants on the beach. This regatta also boasts what some have called, “The best captain’s bags in the Caribbean.”
