Martinique Brings Home the Gold Held this year off the town of Schoelcher on the west coast of Martinique, the Caribbean Dinghy Championship was sailed in variable conditions and resulted in a big win for the home team. About 36, mainly youthful, sailors from around the Caribbean sailed nines races during the event .

Caribbean Dinghy Champs In Martinique The Caribbean Dinghy Championships take place this weekend (August 15,16,17) in Schoelcher, Martinique, the location of the annual Schoelcher Sailing week, the largest dinghy regatta in the Caribbean. Practice races are on the Friday followed by one and a half days of intense competition.
Teams will be attending from Trinidad, Barbados, Puerto Rico, USVI and Martinque and will use the extensive equipment available in this premier French Caribbean sailing destination. Sailors will compete in six classes using Laser, Optimist and Sunfish equipment. Antigua is expected to field a last minute entry.
The event is a team event and the title holder Puerto Rico will be present to defend their title gained in St John last year.
Martinique will have a strong team focused on taking the title.

No Stopping No Stop 2003 Conditions were relatively cool with 15 knots of wind, 1 meter Atlantic wave height and a full moon when Club Nautique Le Neptune held its third annual No Stop 2003 on January 18 - 19. The race was open to monohulls up to 23 feet in length with the course that required the boats to sail around the island of Martinique. The No Stop 2003 race was sponsored by Credit Moderne Antilles and there were cash prizes of 150 Euros for the winner of each class and 610 Euros for a new course record. Winners this year were Richard Campmas in Vilela (Racing) and Gerard Corlay in GFA Caraibes (Cruising).

Windy Conditions Liven Up the Solo 2002 The Solo 2002 was sailed on Sunday, November 17th in Fort de France Bay in Martinique. The race was open to mono-hulls that were raced single handedly with both spinakers and auto-pilots were permitted. This year's conditions tested the skippers' fortitude with winds of 25 knots but comfort was found after the race in the club house during the price giving sponsored by "Credit Moderne Antilles" .
