Before the 2004 Caribbean Big Boat Series there may have been many who thought that Titan would have been out of luck in chasing the two maxZ86 canting keel boats through this long, demanding series. Instead Tom Hill’s Titan kept up the pressure and managed some wins over each of these boats, often by a few seconds and finally managed to win the Caribbean Big Boat Series by just one point.

CBBS Setting a New Record in 2004
There are now twelve entries for the 5th Caribbean Big Boat Series (CBBS) making it the biggest and most competitive to date. The series begins with the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta followed by BVI Spring Regatta and Antigua Sailing week, There are six boats racing in of two classes, racing and racing/cruising, and all are competing for the honor of winning the prestigious CBBS Trophy. Both classes show promise of competitive racing as in both, there will be sistership sailing against sistership.

2004 Shaping Up to be a Good Year for the Caribbean Big Boat Series

The Caribbean Big Boat Series has confirmed that it already has entries for the 2004 series. First to let organizers know that they would be back to do the series was Roy Disney and his new Pyewacket. Coming with Pyewacket will be Dr Hasso Plattner's, Morning Glory, these two boats are the new MaxZ 86 class boats designed by Bill Lee. They have canting keels and a sail plan bigger than an America's Cup Class boat. The MaxZ86 class will be racing on the global circuit, which inlcudes the 2004 CBBS, and class organizers are hoping that these boats will be the world’s new record breakers.

Sotto Voce Leads CBBS After St Maarten
With St Maarten's Heineken Regatta over, Arien van Vemde's Judel/Vrolijk designed 72-footer Sotto Voce is currently leading the racing class of the Caribbean Big Boat Series (CBBS) with four points to Chippewa's eight and Equation's 12 points. Next stop: BVI Spring Regatta, April 4 -6.
