The Records Tumbled at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship

Mayumi Roller from Virgin Islands, Laser Radial class, on the 4th racing day of this years Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship.
The records tumbled at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship with all seven titles decided, Great Britain secured the Volvo Trophy and a new generation of sailing stars emerged in Ã…rhus.

Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship Hits the Halfway Stage

Defending champion Pavlos Kontides of Cyprus, who will be representing his country at the 2008 Olympic Games, wins the first race of the boys Laser class at this years Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship.
France moved to the top in the multihull fleet whilst the other leaders remain unchanged as the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship hit the halfway stage. The Caribbean contingent hang in there with Mayumi Roller (ISV) currently in 26th place out of 40 in the Laser Radial class and Aaron Barcant (TRI) and Alec Anderson (ISB) in 26th and 31st place respectively in the Laser class.

Caribbean sailors face breezy conditions and world class competition at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Arhus, Denmark where sailors from Europe, Oceania and Africa occupy the leaderboard top spots.

The Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship 2008 is being used as a test bed event for a new way to follow the racing live on the internet. Sportcasting 2.0 introduced by TracTrac and ActiveInstitute is piloting the system at the championships which allows viewers to watch in real time all seven fleets race around the track. It is the first time the TracTrac system has been used on so many boats at one time, over three courses.

French Multihull Open crewman Romain Bellet gets wet after losing his footing on the trapeze at this years Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship.
The first day of the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship saw lots of action on the water, with capsizes and breakages as the rain clouds passed over the Bay of Arhus. The Caribbean contingent is represented by Aaron Barcant from Trinidad, BVI's Alec Anderson, and Mayumi Roller from the USVI.
