Cape Air Named Official Airline of 2008 Cape Air C.O.R.T. Series and Culebra Heineken International Regatta

Organizers are please to announce that Cape Air has been named the official airline of the 2008 Cape Air C.O.R.T. Series and the Culebra Heineken International Regatta.

“All of us at Cape Air are thrilled to be part of C.O.R.T this year,” said Cape Air President Dan Wolf. ” As a long time sailor myself I know it is going to be a magnificent event and we will make sure that when you fly Cape Air flight from San Juan to Tortola you do not miss the boat. A great race to all!”

The Caribbean Ocean Racing Triangle Series, C.O.R.T. for short, is a trio of regattas that includes the St. Croix International Regatta, the Culebra Heineken International Regatta, and the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival.

The 2008 Cape Air C.O.R.T. Series kick’s off with the St. Croix International Regatta, set for February 8 to 10 and hosted out of the St. Croix Yacht Club.

Julie San Martin, regatta director, says, “We're expecting racers from as far away as Trinidad and St. Martin this year, as well as our good friends from the BVI, Puerto Rico and the other US Virgin Islands.”

The second leg of the 2008 C.O.R.T. Series, the Culebra Heineken International Regatta and the Culebra International Dinghy Regatta, will be held March 14 to 16. “It is with great joy we invite you all to hop on board with us to compete, sail and have fun in the most prestigious sailing event in the Caribbean,” invites regatta director, Angel Ayala.

Bob Phillips, chairman of the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, set for March 31 to April 6, adds, “We are happy to be part of the 2008 Cape Air C.O.R.T. Series and honored to present the awards to the winning boats and sailors.”

Winners of the 2008 Cape Air C.O.R.T. Series will be announced at the series conclusion in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. First, second and third place boats in each of the classes – Spinnaker A, Spinnaker B, Racer-Cruiser, Performance Cruiser, IC24, and Jib & Main – will receive $100, $75 and $50 gift certificates, respectively, from West Marine. The first place finisher in each class will also receive foul weather gear.
