Hot yacht racing. World-class duty-free shopping. Sailing for the kids. This is Virgin Islands Race Week, a glorious 10-day holiday for sailors and sailing families that encompasses the International Rolex Regatta held in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the British Virgin Islands Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival, hosted out of Tortola & Virgin Gorda.

The beauty of this 10-day holiday is that it offers both intense racing and quality family time. A jewel of an opportunity in today’s time crunched society. Sailors and sailing families can customize their sailing vacations by mixing and matching hardcore racing, just-for-fun racing, and leisurely cruising. Add to this a day of duty-free shopping and dining in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, an opportunity for the kids to sail their own dinghy regatta or a family golf outing, and it combines to make a vacation with something for everyone.

"This is an exciting opportunity for the racing boats that are here for Rolex and BVI Spring Regatta to experience more of what makes our Islands so special: dramatic scenery, warm water, and the finest sailing conditions in the world.” says Bob Phillips, Chairman of the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival.

“We are proud to work with Spring Regatta to offer racers more of what they come for,” adds John Sweeney, Co-Director of the International Rolex Regatta.

The International Rolex Regatta will be held March 28 to 30, 2008. The BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival kicks off March 31 and runs through April 6, 2008.

Virgin Islands Race Week will feature classes for both IRC and CSA handicap boats, as well as keen competition, professional race management and a mix of round-the-buoys and round-the-islands courses that makes for fierce competition.

A spectacular grand finale prize awaits the top IRC yacht and the top CSA yacht.

Virgin Islands Race Week is presented by the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism.
