The 9th to the 11th of March, the island of Culebra, PR welcomed over 60 sailboats from all over the world for the third edition of the Culebra Heineken International Regatta. Conditions the first day were challenging with gusts up to of 30 knots and 8 to 10ft. swells. Conditions the second day quieted considerably, with 8 – 12 knots of breeze and 2–4 four foot chop.

“The wonderful experiences from the last two years run like gunpowder among the racers increasing the amount of boats that visit us each year,” commented regatta director, Angel Ayala.

The event was based on the bank of Bahía Ensenada Honda where spectators had a perfect view of the boats sailing in and out. “Having our headquarters in this beautiful area was key in the camaraderie that was experienced throughout the weekend. It was the perfect space to set up registration, provide food, beverage and ice as well as offering entertainment and holding our closing ceremony,” commented Fernando Zavala from FZ Enterprises, the event’s producer. “Since we had so many international visitors headquarters provided a space where everybody could end their day and share experiences.”
