There are now twelve entries for the 5th Caribbean Big Boat Series (CBBS) making it the biggest and most competitive to date. The series begins with the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta followed by BVI Spring Regatta and Antigua Sailing week, There are six boats racing in of two classes, racing and racing/cruising, and all are competing for the honor of winning the prestigious CBBS Trophy. Both classes show promise of competitive racing as in both, there will be sistership sailing against sistership.
In the racing class two brand new MaxZ 86's , Pyewacket and Morning Glory have entered . These two boats have yet to sail against each other. The first leg in the series, the St.Maarten Heineken regatta will be the first race on which these boats compete. Both, Disney and Plattner, have been very successful in the Caribbean.
Also in the racing class are two new entries from the U.K. in the CBBS, Venom and Spirit, both Volvo 60's. The other two boats in the racing class are Tom Hill's Titan 12 and Bill Alcott's Equation. Tom Hill and Bill Alcott have raced many times in the Caribbean but this will be the first time for Tom Hill's new Titan 12. Equation will be racing with a modified keel.
In the racing/cruising class, three Farr 65s from Formula 1 Sailing are entered, Spirit of Mertice, Spirit of Isis and Spirit of Minerva. Chippewa and Starr Trail are returning and there is new competitor on the scene Chad Weiss, and his Tripp 60 Serengeti.
