Emirates Airlines at Interline 2002
Saturday, October 5th, will bring a major influx of visitors to
the BVI as the first participants of the 2003 Moorings Interline Regatta begin
to arrive. This year, the 22nd anniversary of the event organized and hosted
by The Moorings, will be as big as ever with over 400 airline employees taking
part

“Expecting a drop in bookings, we have worked hard to ensure that this
year will be a success. Despite the common reports of troubles in the tourism
and airline industries we have again booked a huge number of yachts for this
infamous event,” said Graham Talbot, regatta director. 53 yachts, representing
19 international airlines, will be on the water for 10 days of racing and just
plain fun.

Clarence Malone, Director at The Moorings said, “We have had a few quiet
weeks, but the team here is ready. We all realize what this event means to the
airline staff, and we are determined that everything will run smoothly”

One of the strongest teams to take part this year will be AlItalia who have
booked 8 yachts. Leading up to the official start date of October 7TH, airline
employees from American Airlines, BA, United, Fed-Ex, AlItalia, Continental
and many others will arrive on the island.

Asked if the season is looking good, Graham Talbot said “The Interline
gives us an indication of things to come and with 53 bookings we cannot complain.
Traditionally, this is the time of year when we take the majority of bookings
for next season. We will have a clearer picture in late October after the US
and European Fall boat shows.”

In organizing the 2003 Interline Regatta, not only has The Moorings received
much help from a number of restaurants and bars around the BVI, the success
of the event will be ensured by support from Doyle Sailmakers, and The Moorings
staff.
