St Maarten
Lagoon Sailboat Rentals based on Simpson Lagoon Bay in St Maarten, is organizing a ‘women only’ regatta on November 2nd and 3rd 2002. The regatta will be sailed on the Lagoon in their fleet of 20-foot one design boats, the Sunfast 20 by Jeanneau.
It will be open to 14 teams comprising 10 teams from overseas and four teams from St. Maarten. Each team should have a minimum of three and maximum of four women. “This regatta will be very easy all you need to do is turn up. If anyone from any of the Islands can not put a team together but would still like to come please let me know as we can always work something out for you,” said organizer Cary Byerley.
The event starts with a welcome party and skippers briefing at the At Maarten Yacht Club on the Friday evening and races will start on Saturday morning at about 9am.
There will be two pools and competitors will race one, sit one. Each race is planned to take about twenty minutes and Harry's Bar will be the spectator stand for the event and organizers plan to keep the courses as close as possible to the bar for “viewing pleasure”.
Racing should be finished by early afternoon on Sunday.
