Sailing boats of all sizes and classes will be converging on Bonaire for something more than just a safe harbour during the fall of 2002. Once again Bonaire is hosting the Bonaire International Sailing Regatta (October 6-12). The island is celebrating the island-wide event for the 35th time and this year's races and festivities promise to be the best ever.

From a special Micro Boat (remote control) class, fishing boats and sailing yachts to catamarans, windsurfers and sunfishes, if it has a sail it will be racing in Bonaire. After race fun will include nightly music and entertainment at the Festival Stage and shows on the Boulevard Street.

The windsurfing category was a huge success last year in Lac Bay's Sorobon Beach which has been nominated as the best place in the world to learn windsurfing. Sorobon is also the home of the now famous “Bonaire Kids” competing in windsurfing events in the Caribbean and beyond.

Once again the Regatta will be hosted out of the “Kas di Regatta” located on Playa. This central location will provide complete viewing of most of the races from start to finish. The first day of racing will be October 7th, 2002.

Even if you can't be on Bonaire you too can share in the events with the daily results on the website www.bonaireregatta.org published each evening after the races have ended for the day.
