Grenada
Sailors are invited to compete in the one day sailing event which launches at St. George's Harbor at 8 a.m. on March 14. Registration, a skipper’s briefing and a cocktail party will be held on Friday evening, March 13 at Port Louis. Free dockage at Port Louis on Friday and Saturday evening is provided for any boat entering the race as well as a plentiful breakfast served at 6:30 a.m. the morning of the race sponsored by Real Value Supermarket.
While sailboats are making their way around the island on Saturday, the beach party kicks off with the Budget Marine Youth Sailing Exhibition at 11 a.m. on Grand Anse Beach in front of Garfield's Beach Bar. Local children will participate in sailing activities and earn prizes.
Then, at 1 p.m. free kid's games will start on the beach. Children will have a blast playing tug-of-war, throwing water balloons and competing in relay races. Face painting will also be provided. All children are welcome to participate.
Saturday's family fun will be followed by a full line up of events on Sunday that showcase Grenada's unique culture. The day will include live music from some favorite local bands, delicious food from Gouyave, Victoria and the best island restaurants as well as a Bathtub Derby showcasing local craftsmanship.
The antics of the Bathtub Derby will begin at 1 p.m. at Grand Anse Beach. Crafty participants can float their own version of a boat and compete for cash prizes!
Food will be sold at A Taste of Grenada from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. For the first time ever, vendors from the popular Fish Friday in Gouyave and the Victoria Food Festival will be on Grand Anse Beach serving their local favorites right in the sand. They will be joined by premier restaurants including Verandah, Aquarium, Carib Sushi, La Boulangerie, Bananas Nightclub & Restaurant and Glover's.
Free live music from the Tivoli Drummers, Steel Band and Baracuda Band will play during the day. The weekend will wrap up with a prize-giving ceremony for all the sailors.
